Meet Dr. Gupta
Ankur A. Gupta, DDS
I love being a dentist, and enjoy coming to work every day! I have the daily opportunity to help the wonderful people in our community, helping them attain and maintain optimal oral health. I enjoy caring for them, and teaching them how to take great care of their teeth for a lifetime!
Education and Continuing Education
Before becoming a dentist, I attained my bachelor's degree in biochemistry from University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. I went to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for dental school, earning my DDS. My general practice residency was completed at MetroHealth Hospital.
I am always learning something new about dentistry and its many benefits for my patients’ overall health. I participate in continuing education courses and seminars in order to ensure the highest quality and most comfortable treatments for every person who comes to see me. My primary continuing education focus for the past two years has been on implant dentistry and on the dentist’s role with sleep apnea prevention.
As part of my continuing education, I am an active member of the following professional organizations:

- American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine
In the Practice
Each patient is unique, and I enjoy taking the time to know them personally, while also deciphering what they need clinically. I love helping patients live more comfortably, and am always rewarded by a patient’s smile when they are relieved of pain. Dentistry can truly change a person’s life, and I love what I do.
My staff and I want to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where each patient feels at home. We thing a dental visit should be a positive and rewarding experience for everyone, and we love making our patients smile! We treat everyone like family, and it shows.
Family and Community
I am originally from Albuquerque, and love living in Avon. My wife, Nisha, is the other dentist in our practice. We have two young kids at home: Sabina is the older daughter, born in 2008. Arjun is our baby boy, born in 2010.
When I am not in the office, it is my mission to tire the kids out every day. I love taking them to the library, zoo, park, or nature center, or we just rough house at home when the weather is bad. My kids are at an age right now where most of Nisha’s and my “hobbies” are centered on entertaining the children. When we do get time to ourselves, we enjoy hiking in the Cleveland area parks, eating new restaurants, discovering fitness ideas, and watching our favorite shows.
My wife and I love volunteering in the community, and I enjoy using my skills to help those in need. I volunteer once a month at the Cleveland Free Clinic, and am a volunteer lecturer at MetroHealth Hospital GPR program and at the Lorain county Community College dental Hygiene program. I also go to one school per month to educate kids about good oral hygiene habits.
